It would appear that Facebook is planning to give Google a run for its money through search.
The AllFacebook blog has noted that Facebook has confirmed that an open graph search engine is in the works.
While there was a lot of speculation about Facebook’s search strategy, the company has confirmed with us that “all Open Graph-enabled web pages will show up in search when a user likes them”. Earlier this week we published about the new Facebook SEO that’s possible via the Open Graph, but now it’s clear that this is the beginning of Facebook’s internet search strategy. The race is now on for publishers to optimize their sites for Facebook’s search engine.

Non-Facebook sites are now starting to appear and rank in “Facebook” results (as opposed to “Web Results”), as though they were internal Facebook pages — based on how many “Likes” they have. The example below shows a Facebook search for “annapolis marriott” with a page from tripadvisor showing in the results.
